Namukwaya Sylivia Kalibbala

'
'

My name is Namukwaya Sylvia Kalibbala, a mother of two children and an innovative and entrepreneurial lady from Uganda who studied computer programming at university. Driven by my passion for crafts and intention to become self-reliant, I joined a women's innovative

community where we worked together in various techniques, from tailoring, beading, crocheting, and weaving. My first product was a table mat from soda bottle tops, which I began to collect to conserve the environment. Today, I make and sell woven baskets from sisal and patched table mats from African fabrics. My materials tell stories, from the sisal, a traditional material for Ugandan weaving that speaks of our rich local craft tradition, to the bottle tops, seemingly useless artifacts of our integration
